We have noticed a marked increase in the volume of email spam passing through our servers over the last couple of days. This has resulted in a few delays to email delivery whilst our servers deal with the additional messages. We are currently working on pushing email through whilst ensuring our servers can cope with the extra load.
We will be upgrading some of our network switches on the 1st of February between 9am and 2pm. Clients may notice a brief interruption to their connectivity as they are moved to the new equipment.
We are restarting our Linux Shared Web-hosting this morning to deal with some performance issues. Sites may be off-line for a few minutes, but should be back to normal by 11:45am.
We have upgraded the editor used by our customer webmail system (http://webmail.flipsidedata.net) to improve compatibility with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9. In addition we have added context menus, so that right-clicking will display a menu with relevant options for messages.
This afternoon the data centre itself in Byfleet has suffered an extremely professional Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack on it's operation. Their engineers are currently working with all the major carriers and blocking the offending IP addresses upstream and hope to restore operations as quickly as possible.
